Montreal DIY radio, techno one hour and post-punk the next.
n10.as, pronounced "antennas", went on air on 21 February 2016 from the offices of Arbutus Records. A few Concordia students had dreamed it up over games of Settlers of Catan the autumn before, listening to NTS, Know Wave and Berlin Community Radio and noticing their city had nothing like them, and Arbutus founder Sebastian Cowan gave them a room and his audio interface. It began with shows three days a week. It has stayed volunteer-run and donation-funded ever since, and marked ten years in 2026 from a studio on Rue Saint-Hubert.
It exists to give Montreal's DJs and artists somewhere to play, and hosts pick freely. Most of the archive leans electronic, with techno, house, ambient and a long experimental streak, while post-punk, jazz, rap and soul surface through the week. A morning show, a handful of talk programmes and Democracy Now! every weekday sit between the music, and recent shows are replayed through the hours nobody is live.
Nobody here is selling anything.
