Northern soul stompers and rare 45s, built for the floor.
Pete Longden was born in Ormskirk, twelve miles west of Wigan, and first got into the Casino in 1976 after telling his mum he was staying at a mate's. He went on to found the Thames Valley Soul Club in High Wycombe, and in March 2026 set up Northern Soul Radio in the same town to carry the music around the clock. He is firm that it isn't a nostalgia station. The scene never really packed up, and he wanted it played like it was still happening, for old soulies and newcomers alike.
Evenings lean on the people who made the scene, with archive hours from Richard Searling, Kev Roberts working through his Top 500 at drivetime and the old Blackpool Mecca resident Ian Levine taking it to midnight. Mark 'SoulfulSwifty' Swift has breakfast, Dave Thomas goes out live on Sunday nights, usually with a collector or two in, and between shows rare, underplayed and modern soul mix in with the classics.
