Soul, funk and disco from a Duisburg front room.
SOULPOWERfm has run out of a home studio in Duisburg since 2006, started on a whim by Guido Neumann and Melanie Zacharyasz-Neumann and run as a hobby — no advertising, no commercial interest, nothing sold between the records. The studio got a name early on, the SoulBasis, and the station took its tagline from that: die Soul Basis in Deutschland. Over the years the week has filled out to more than a dozen named shows, and each of the residents behind them keeps a public archive of their own hours.
The rotation is soul, funk and disco from the seventies through the nineties, widened out with modern soul and soulful house. Around it the week carries a pair of UK chart shows, an early-bird slot for the commute, Absolut Soul for the late hours, a run of Friday programmes, the station's own mix, and a Sunday close on Glitterbox and a soul experience.
No adverts, just the records.
