RockIt! is the loud corner of Radio Paradise, the listener-supported station Bill and Rebecca Goldsmith started from their home in Paradise, California, in February 2000. The station was held up in a 2004 TIME feature on the revolution in radio and came through the 2007 royalty fight that threatened to raise its fees tenfold, and it now runs several hand-curated channels from Eureka. RockIt! takes the guitar-led records off the flagship and gives them a channel all of their own.
The mix runs from seventies and eighties hard rock and blues-rock jams to new wave, college-radio alternative and the big-chorus rock of the past few years, with the odd surf-garage curveball thrown in. Songs are chosen and sequenced by hand rather than rotated off a chart, and like the rest of Radio Paradise it carries no presenters and no commercials.
