Jazz from Lyon that is sung more often than blown.
Christophe Mahé started it in Lyon on 10 January 1996 as Fréquence Jazz, the first station in France to play jazz around the clock, and a Paris sister called Paris Jazz followed that August with a programme of its own. The Lyon station took the Jazz Radio name in June 2008 and spent that year adding frequencies across the centre, south and north of the country, then reached Monaco on 95.7 in 2012. It now runs on more than fifty FM transmitters and on digital radio in several cities.
Its own line is the radio of every kind of jazz, but the days lean on singers, from the great crooners and swing-era voices to a newer generation, with classic soul and funk filling a good share of the hours in between. Hosted shifts run from the breakfast pairing of Benoit Thuret and Capucine Trollion to Claude Zennaro in the evenings, with a separate team at weekends.
Dinner party, no dress code.
