Swing, bebop, and smooth jazz out of Bucharest.
Jazz FM came out of a 2017 licensing contest at Romania's audiovisual council, where Jazz Media applied for frequencies in several cities and was awarded two: 98.3 in Sibiu and 91.9 in Brașov. The station launched in December 2018 and reached those two counties on FM through 2019, then handed both licences back in July 2020 when the cost stopped adding up — Brașov went to Doğan Media, Sibiu to a company in Mediaș. It has run from Calea Victoriei in Bucharest, online only, ever since.
The day runs in named blocks, from Good Morning Jazz through Offizz Time, My Generation and Jazz, Soul & Blues to Jazz by Night. Big-band crooners and swing records sit alongside modal trumpet, contemporary smooth-jazz guitar and sixties Chicago soul singers. It also keeps a directory of every Romanian jazz festival, from Gărâna to Jazz in the Park in Cluj.
Romania's only all-jazz signal.
