Global grooves and folk from every continent, hand-picked.
The Globe is the world-music channel of Radio Paradise, the listener-supported station Bill and Rebecca Goldsmith started from their home in Paradise, California, in February 2000 and later moved to Eureka. Radio Paradise grew from a single eclectic stream into a family of channels, each hand-curated by the same small team, and The Globe is the one that faces furthest outward, carrying records from across Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe to listeners who might never seek them out.
A typical hour moves from Malian song and Tuareg guitar to Afro-Cuban grooves, Japanese folk and French pop, with downtempo electronica and global fusion projects threading through, so a desert blues track can give way to a cumbia remix without a jolt. There are no presenters, only hand-built sequences, and the mix runs from vintage recordings to releases from the last year or two.
