Funk, quiet storm and Afrobeats from Toronto DJs.
Ritchie Rich has been a DJ, sound engineer and producer for the best part of half a century, and in 2020 he started Radio Echelon in Toronto as what he calls his way of giving that back. It is an internet-only station, supported by its listeners, and it carries the call sign CJRR-DB. The people on air are mostly Toronto radio hands like him. Diva Dee has thirty years in community radio behind her, and DJ Lady Funkalicious, who also presents on the campus station CJRU, directs the city's funk, soul and R&B festival.
Funk gets the most room, with shows on several evenings that include one made with the people behind the Funk Music Hall of Fame in Dayton, Ohio. Around them sit quiet storm and R&B, smooth jazz, lovers rock, gospel and an Afrobeats slot most afternoons, and the hours between are an easy mix of soul and pop hits. Saturdays also bring a women's talk hour and a syndicated gospel show.
A lifetime behind the decks, on air.
