Roots reggae, lovers rock and classic soul cuts.
UniqueXtra set out to give the North of England its own voice in Black music radio, streaming from Bradford in West Yorkshire, and its DJs were already putting their shows online by early 2018, with Lady K's Sunday reggae programme and Wilson Frisk's house sessions among the first. In 2022 it linked up with Unique Radio London, which it calls its parent station and which had been covering gaps in the Bradford rota with its own stream, giving the Yorkshire DJs a way in front of the London station's much larger audience.
Weekdays run on Unique Selection, an automated mix of reggae, dancehall, soul and hip hop, and the residents come in at the weekend. On Sundays classic soul from DJ Parker and DJ Dez Wes fills the afternoon, DJ Weather Man brings smooth reggae as the evening comes in, and the ELC Fam take it to midnight on neo soul. Saturdays go to ShakAttack's reggae and afrobeats at lunchtime and DJ Soca Scorcher at night.
