Rare new wave and post-punk from the 80s B-side bin.
Andys80s has been on the internet since at least 2008, built around one stubborn idea printed right in its stream title, the rarest eighties music on the net. It runs without commercials or talk, and listeners help steer it through a request page that also keeps a public top 25 of the most-asked-for songs. A shoutbox sits on the homepage, and a companion message board called the New Wave Zone gives the regulars somewhere to talk between requests. You can even ask a smart speaker for it by name.
New wave is the core, reached through its side doors rather than its hits, with post-punk and synth-pop alongside and the odd ska, goth or underground punk track slipped in. Familiar names turn up next to bands that barely made it past one single. New additions are logged on the site with dates, right down to seasonal batches of off-kilter holiday records from the period.
