Espeeera...
Quitando el polvo a la aguja…
Zydeco to industrial techno, a hundred DJs deep.
Sean Bradley and Jackson Allers had turntables, a mixer and a camera in a Sprinter van when they began broadcasting from Bradley's Second Ward backyard in January 2024 — two radio veterans lately back in Houston, one from New York's art world and one from Beirut, taken with what The Lot Radio had built in Brooklyn. Pop-ups in other backyards and storefronts followed, then a short residency at the Montrose cafe Brasil, and that October the pair took over the disused car wash in the garage below the bar Echoes on Richmond Avenue.
More than a hundred residents fill five nights a week, Tuesday through Saturday, and a single evening can run cumbia into chopped and screwed, dark wave, zydeco and left-field house. YorzTruly's monthly t'ēna t'abīya digs through Afrocentric records, Pher works the ambient and experimental end, and Real Gone hosts Haunted Dancehall. Thousands of hours sit in the archive.
The Third Coast, on the record.
