Espeeera...
Quitando el polvo a la aguja…
Techno, deep house, and hardgroove from Portland's bench.
Jonathan Denerson started it during the 2020 lockdowns, when nobody could play out and everybody had a hard drive full of mixes going nowhere. It is online-only and nonprofit, based in Portland but spread thin across the map: the roster runs past forty DJs, in Los Angeles, Seattle and New York as well as Oregon. Almost nothing goes out live — a DJ records the hour and sends it in. The SE Uplift neighbourhood coalition sponsors it, and it runs monthly showcases and free DJ training.
Deep, classic and jackin' house on MOVEMINTZ; hardgroove and ghetto tech on Sisi Scientist; UK garage on Escape With CEA; techno and musique concrète on Shadow Scores. B. Blahnik brings Tannic Acid and Anphonics brings Control Room on a monthly turn each, between the weekly shows, and Birdy MRQZ turns up every week without fail. The records lean minimal and tracky.
Made at home, played everywhere.
