Nineties boom bap and jazz rap, with Paris in the mix.
FIP Hip-Hop went online on 29 August 2022 alongside FIP Metal, the two of them joining the eight webradios FIP already ran, more than fifty years after the main station first went on air in Paris. FIP's programmers pick the tracks, as they do everywhere else, and the channel's own line sets the scope as hip hop's past, present and future, from the spoken-word poets who came before it to today's rappers in London and Paris, with a Japanese beatmaker or two in between and rap from everywhere else given room.
The nineties East Coast is the backbone, boom bap and the jazz-sampling crews, with the West Coast's funkier side close behind and French rap from both its first golden era and the current crop. More than half of what plays came out after 2010, though, and most of that leans to the thoughtful, lyric-heavy end of things, with the odd instrumental beat record slipped in between the verses.
