Dance with no respect for which decade it came from.
FG-Xtra spent years as an Antwerp station in its own right, on 107 FM and DAB+ channel 10A, with a site of its own and evenings handed to touring DJs such as Claptone and Anja Schneider. The Flemish regulator withdrew the FM licence at the end of 2022, and it now runs online as one of three channels on the Antwerp arm of Radio FG — a brand that began in Paris in 1981 as Fréquence Gaie, a community station of the city's gay scene, before turning to house in the nineties and dropping community status in 2001.
Underground house sits at the centre of it, disco and funk either side, tech house and techno after dark. It moves across decades without announcing the fact: Kosheen's Hide U from 2001 running into an Armin van Buuren and Adam Beyer collaboration. Old records are sequenced as current rather than filed under classics, and nobody talks over any of it.
