Espeeera...
Quitando el polvo a la aguja…
Deep house, boogie and cumbia, straight out of Miami.
John Caignet found radio by accident in 2004, walking up a ramp past the Miami Dade College cafeteria to see where it went and finding the campus station at the top of it; the student manager asked if he wanted a show, and he said yes. He is the great-grandson of Félix B. Caignet, the Cuban writer who helped invent the radio serial, and he started Jolt in 2010 rather than fight the licensing and corporate side of FM. Fifteen years on it is a 501(c)(3) working out of a bigger studio in Allapattah.
The schedule reads like Miami's dance floor across a week: house and deep house lead, then disco, boogie and rare grooves, afro house and amapiano, breaks, UK garage and techno, with cumbia and Balearic on the beachier shows. It runs around the clock on two channels, the second one built from mixes listeners send in every quarter, and it carries no advertising at all.
Miami without the velvet rope.
