Espeeera...
Quitando el polvo a la aguja…
Specialist and underground, Brighton to the world.
It launched in April 2015 as 1 Brighton FM, a not-for-profit built on the idea that the city should be making its own radio rather than receiving somebody else's. DAB+ carriage followed that December, and in February 2017 Ofcom granted it a community licence for 101.4, which put it on the dial properly; the rebrand to 1BTN came that October. A decade on, the roster reads less like a presenter list than a directory of the record labels working in and around the town and along that stretch of coast.
Robert Luis brings Tru Thoughts to it and Damian Harris brings Skint, while Jalapeno Records gets an hour of its own. Glyn 'Bigga' Bush digs through dub, Chris Coco's Melodica takes the balearic end, Nicky Lucas runs Roots Rockers and Keira EOC the drum and bass. Other shows arrive from further out — Lady Flic in New York, 808 Legacy in Serbia, Our Starry Universe from Brooklyn.
Run by the people who press it.
