Beyond… is the most adventurous of the Radio Paradise channels. The station started in February 2000, when Bill and Rebecca Goldsmith began streaming from their home in Paradise, California, and it has stayed listener-supported and free of commercials through moves to the Borrego Valley in 2016 and later to Eureka. Beyond… is where its small hand-picking team lets jazz and experimental records run further than the flagship would allow, for listeners who like the far outer edges.
Jazz leads, from 1950s piano trios and soul-jazz guitar to the current London scene, spiritual harp and cosmic saxophone, with free improvisation, odd electronic pieces and spoken-word soul folded in. The sequencing takes its time, old sessions sitting beside records from the past year or two, and like its sister channels it runs with no presenters and no commercials.
