Breaks-heavy rave radio, run by self-confessed music nerds.
Cutters Choice Radio began in the UK in the early 2010s and by 2026 was in its fifteenth year of broadcasting. Its running moved to New Zealand in 2023, where it operates as a non-profit under a local online music licence, but the DJs never gathered in one place. More than forty of them stream their shows from home in New Zealand, the UK and a handful of other countries, and the station describes itself as a community of residents and selectors rooted in bass and rave culture. Thousands of their shows sit in its archive.
Breakbeat is the home sound, from big beat and acid breaks to nu skool and hardcore breaks, with house, acid house, jungle and drum and bass close behind. Plenty of residents wander further, into old-school hip hop, disco, soul and punk, there is a weekly ska hour, and a few shows are vinyl only. When nobody is live, the station replays sets from its archive.
Bangers first, questions later.
