Aspeeetta...
Spolveriamo la puntina…
IDM, dub techno, and electronica with the lights low.
Dinamo came out of Istanbul's 103.8 FM, on air from November 2003 until the station gave the frequency up ten years later to put everything on the web. Channels have been added slowly ever since, and the station's own explanation is that a person has to build each one — people being slower than the software most music services use to assemble a playlist. Nine exist so far, and this is where a listener arrives after the others stop being enough.
Smog is pitched past the rest: IDM, dub techno and cloudier electronica for listeners already deep in the music, where Boards of Canada, Derivate and the Fax catalogue count as an ordinary afternoon. It is named for the haze it aims at — grey, textured, and more interested in atmosphere than in momentum. The haze is the destination, and nothing here announces itself.
For people who read liner notes.
