Aspeeetta...
Spolveriamo la puntina…
Avant-garde electronics and obscure texture, all night.
WEATNU began in 2014 as a movement before it was a label: We are the New Underground, built for artists the streaming era had no shelf for. The radio came first and stayed first, switched on that December and running until 2016, then silent for two years before its founder Almark brought it back in 2018. It traces its own line further back still, to Radio Free Underground, a station that ran from 1997 to 2000. Everything since has been arranged around it: the label, the magazine, the artist directory.
This is the electronic channel, and the roots show in what it plays: avant-garde and obscure texture, cinematic passages, techno at one end and drum and bass at the other, with indie pop turning up where you least expect it. Artists send their work in and it enters a rotation that never closes, which is why unfamiliar names keep surfacing between the ones you know.
Underground as a stated address.
