Dubstep, and the low end that keeps Ghent awake.
Gilles De Boeck started Black Teeth in 2020 as a label, run with two friends out of a youth centre in Sint-Niklaas where he had been experimenting with livestreams for a local sound project; the name came out of a lockdown evening and stuck because it sounded right. A room in the youth house became a workspace, the city lent Pioneer decks, and the radio followed. Both original partners have since left, Pauline Gils joined the board in 2023, and the whole operation now works out of Ghent.
The label is past twenty records — TRAKA, Kampah, ARtroniks, Aemone, Swarobski, BSVN — and the stream carries the same weight, 140 dubstep giving way to electro, breakbeat, dark drum and bass and the odd braindance hour as each guest takes the desk. With Daily Dubstep the crew puts heavyweight bass nights into De Vooruit, Sir Spyro and Joker among them.
A label with a transmitter.
