R2 ChillR2 Chill

Raadio 2 opened the R2 Extra web channels in spring 2021, starting with a rap stream and adding Estonian, pop and alternative lists over the following months. Chill arrived in the second wave alongside the rock list, and it is the only one in the family named for a mood rather than a genre — ERR's own billing calls it the chillest music in the world today, then adds, deadpan, that it is music for women and lonely men. Nobody speaks on it, nothing is announced, and there is no schedule to miss.

The billing undersells the tempo. What actually plays is melodic and deep house, much of it in remixed form, one producer's track reshaped by another for the floor, with progressive builds and the odd nu-disco groove filling the gaps between them. It is closer to a long warm-up set than to an ambient stream: soft-edged, but always moving, and never quite still.
