Athens hit radio built on house and dance-pop.
Michalis Tsaousopoulos built Radio DeeJay in 2000 for the Attica Publications group, having already helped launch Athens 9.84 and co-owned Kiss FM. He is still the group's general manager and still hosts the mornings, in at the studio by 6:30 for Breakfast στα FM with Erwin heckling from somewhere behind him. Most of the voices have stayed a long time, Kostas Vinakos among them, hired in 2007 a week after sending in a demo, and Nagia Apostolou has been on mid-mornings since October 2011.
The promise is hits and nothing else. The weekly Top 30 leans hard on house and dance-pop, with whatever pop is charting in London or Los Angeles slotted in between, and every weeknight at seven listeners vote their own Top 13 with Tolis Varnas. Saturday nights belong to Cavo Paradiso resident Giorgos Seiras and his two-hour mix, and Bob Sinclar's show goes out on Fridays at midnight.
No deep cuts, no apologies.
More stations will appear here soon.
