New house and techno with a nineties big-beat memory.
FIP autour de l'électro went online on 6 June 2017 as FIP's seventh webradio, launched with a Detroit techno pioneer as its godfather, who came on the main station that month to talk through his new album and play a late mix. The name was later trimmed to FIP Electro, and in November 2018 the programmers put out a double vinyl under it, presenting the current electronic scene as heir to France's own pioneer of electronic music. Like the rest of the bouquet it is programmed by hand, track by track, with no presenters.
Almost half of what plays came out in the 2020s and another fifth in the 2010s, so the channel lives mainly on new house and techno, with French producers well represented and the broken-beat end of the UK scene close behind. The nineties are the other pole, big beat and trip-hop and the stranger corners of electronica, while a slower downtempo thread keeps it easy enough to work to.
Clubbing, minus the queue.
