Underground electronic with a festival's afterglow.
Kiosk Radio began in 2017, when five friends tired of commercial radio answered a call from the City of Brussels to do something with an abandoned wooden bandstand standing in the Parc Royal. They turned it into a studio and have broadcast around the clock from the park ever since, with the booth facing the path so that anyone crossing the middle of the city can stop and watch a set being played through the glass, which is more or less the whole idea the station was founded on.
Programming runs on residents, artist takeovers and live sets rather than a playlist — underground electronic, techno and electro, and further out into experimental and abstract. The station's own line is that it exists to give people a voice whether or not they already have a following, which is what makes it a genuine node in the European scene rather than a booking chain.
No following required to belong.
