Oklahoma indie rock, new wave nights and red dirt roots.
The Spy began as 93.7 The Spy in Stillwater, where Ferris O'Brien became program director in 1998. When the owners pulled it off the air in 2001 he kept the name and carried it to Oklahoma City, through Citadel's alternative station KSYY, a weekly specialty show on a rock station and a leased 105.3 signal from 2009. A purchase that fell through in December 2010 left it online only, until a 2012 partnership with KOSU put its stream on public radio transmitters across the state each night.
Ferris O'Brien hosts weeknights on indie and alternative rock, with Thursdays handed to new wave. From Friday the specialists take over, among them Ryan LaCroix's two-hour Oklahoma Rock Show, Beau Brady's all-vinyl Yr Welcome, E-Roy's ska and dub on Toaster Brunch, and country and roots from Tim Buchanan and Jack Fowler on Far From Home and Tumbleweeds All the Way Down.
