De naald wordt afgestoft…
Denmark's public-service home for rock and indie.
In November 2010 DR decided to cut its digital radio output from twenty-three channels down to about a dozen, and announced the survivors that January. P6 Beat was the second of five new stations to come out of the rebuild, on air from 11 April 2011 with a single brief: alternative music, all day, as a channel in its own right rather than a slot in someone else's schedule. It stayed digital-only until the nationwide DAB+ switch-over of 1 October 2017 put it within reach of an ordinary set.
Casper Bach Hegstrup runs the music and decides each day what new records go in; every programme starts from a playlist its host is then free to add to or cut from. Tilde Bang picks the hour on Lydsporet, Jacob Hinchely and Stine Rosenfeldt fill the afternoon on Musiktjenesten, and Radiohead and Fontaines D.C. land beside Efterklang, Kashmir, Mew and Trentemøller.
Taxpayer-funded distortion.
