De naald wordt afgestoft…
Karlsruhe's free radio, Klassik to punk, since June 1995.
Radio Dreyeckland called a meeting in a Karlsruhe workshop yard in March 1993, thirty people turned up, and by December the project had a name. Querfunk applied for all twenty-four hours of the city's non-commercial frequency and got roughly half of them: the regulator handed weekday mornings and evenings to a university learning-radio consortium and left the middays, the nights and the entire weekend. It went on air from the Gewerbehof on Steinstraße with sixty hours a week and has held 104.8 ever since.
One hour is Andy's Jazzworkshop, the next Kult of Flesh, then TechnoDom, DREADheadz or Rap-Präsenz — some seventy-five music shows, each built by whoever asked for the slot. They run in Spanish, English, French and Croatian as well as German, and the music is there to be talked about rather than played under: Interstellar Insurgency posts a full playlist every episode.
