Emerging sonic practice with a dancefloor undertow.
LYL calls itself a cultural project that has elected music as its main ethic, and the people making it are listed on its own about page as activists, record store owners, label founders, DJs, musicians, specialists, geeks, weirdos and amateurs. It started in 2015 at Les Ateliers SUMO in Lyon, opened in Paris in November 2016, Brussels in 2020 and Marseille in 2021, then in September 2026 folded all of it back into the native studio, at Unité Centrale Records on rue René Leynaud.
New shows go out on Thursdays, nine in the morning until midnight, and the archive runs the other six days — a decade of leftfield electronic, ambient, electro and crate-deep sessions, with jazz wherever a host takes it there. It is self-financed and volunteer-run throughout, and has been commissioned by Q-O2 in Brussels and the Fondation Pernod Ricard.
Grew to four cities, chose one.
