De naald wordt afgestoft…
Post-punk, dub and basement electronics, ad-free.
DIA! went on air in August 2019 from Saint-Jean-de-Luz, put up by the Moï Moï collective during what turned out to be the final edition of the Baleapop festival — the radio outlived the thing that started it. It broadcasts from the Parc Ducontenia, runs as a non-profit with no advertising, and opened with around fifty residents. Six years on, the archive holds more than a hundred and seventy shows, made by DJs, selectors, musicians, journalists and a fair number of people who are none of those.
Its own episode tags say where the weight falls: ambient and leftfield first, then downtempo, dub, house and IDM, with psych rock, post-punk and dark wave alongside them and afrobeat, funk and R&B turning up often enough to count. Shows run monthly or fortnightly rather than daily, which is what happens when everyone making them has something else to do.
Both sides of the border, one dial.
