Boogie, reggae and soul, then ambient till dawn.
Aaja took an old railway arch on Deptford High Street in 2018 and filled it with a bar, a record label, an event space and a sound installation its own copy calls non-intrusive but heavy for the heads. Two studios went in behind all that, each running its own schedule with no shows in common between the two of them. CH1 is the one wired into the basement room, so when the venue is working the channel is usually broadcasting whatever happens to be going on in it.
Sixty slots fill its week. Ambient Hours holds the overnight from eleven until eight, unattended; the rest of it is people — Easy am with max from Mitcham at breakfast, Impulse Sounds with Kay Gee, Hortus, Antz Boogie Reggae, Night Edition, and Deptford Triple Dub when the Snake Pit is running. Contributors file in from Fribourg, New York and York.
Sound system first, decor later.
