Taipei city pop from Wild Strawberries to Gen Z.
City Pop Four is the newest of the four routes and the one the station calls researched rather than merely programmed: DJ Allie compiled it for m·radio and the credit line says so outright. It opened in October 2022 to cover Taipei's own city pop — from the Wild Strawberries generation of the 1980s through to Gen Z — and it is pitched as the sound of modern, independent Taiwan rather than as a footnote to the Japanese canon it usually gets filed beside on the streaming services.
That span shows up hour by hour. Simon Hsueh and Pauline Lan from 1985 and Lo Hung Wu from 1989 sit in the same set as David Huang in 2003 and Sticky Rice in 2017, with Annie Yi queued behind them. Four decades of Mandarin-language pop get treated as one continuous tradition rather than as an oldies bin with a handful of newer arrivals bolted on the end.
Taiwan, playing for itself.
