Dance music with the edges left deliberately loose.
LOOSE.fm calls itself a sound and culture community rather than a station, and it has the premises to back the distinction: a radio HQ inside Design District on the Greenwich Peninsula, broadcasting around the clock. It sums itself up in three words — eclectic, experimental, ecstatic — and in two more on the stream, which announces FOR JOY where other stations put a genre. Rhythmic Group is the company behind it, and shows stay up afterwards rather than vanishing with the hour.
Something like thirty shows fill a week, nearly all resident-led and most given an hour or two to follow a single idea, with the station's own playlist carrying the hours between. Flat Earth Disco goes out with Jahmed, Space Vacation with Cosmic Mamba, Printed Circuits with Bill, Working Nights with Paul East. Line Breaks is the odd one out: an hour of poetry, readings and music that warns it may contain owls.
Peak-time energy, off-peak hours.
