Seventies disco funk and eighties boogie, bass up front.
Funky Radio has been running out of Milan since 2020, the project of Gianluigi Petruccio, who first went on air at fifteen and founded the StreamingMedia.it webcasting company in 2002, and published by the non-profit Radio Tematiche. This second channel picks up where the classic funk one stops, in the disco and boogie years, with records chosen by Master Concertino, the Milan DJ Marcello Manco, who started in the city's clubs at nineteen and spent 1982 to 2008 as a music consultant at Radio 105 and Radio Monte Carlo.
Most of the day is a long run of disco funk, boogie and modern soul with rare groove threaded through, and the selection deliberately mixes records everyone knows with deeper cuts and vinyl rarities from the same years. At weekends the channel hands over to DJs, TonyMontana DJ among them, with longer mixes built around the dancefloor sounds of the seventies and eighties.
Roller rink hours, all day long.
