Spolveriamo la puntina…
Twelve-inch soul, funk and disco, 1975 to 1985.
Disco Factory grew out of the crowd that filled Galaxy, the 's-Hertogenbosch discotheek whose name still pulls a room in Brabant, and it runs today on a group of friends who do it as volunteers and cover the costs from donations rather than advertising. The DJs behind it came up through those same Dutch clubs — Galaxy itself, Disco Studio Broadway, Club Castel — and the reunion nights they throw at the city's Willem Twee poppodium have been going a decade, the latest billed across two rooms and six DJs.
The rotation holds to soul, funk and disco cut between roughly 1975 and 1985, twelve-inch versions wherever a twelve-inch exists, with nu-disco let in at the edges. Thursday nights break the automation: John Lommers, an old Galaxy DJ, presents two hours of the Galaxy Classics Party live from a cafe back room, simulcast on MFM Brabant, with a request line and a weekly rework from DJ Sies.
For people who kept the sleeves.
