Volunteer-run experimental radio from a record shop.
KURS runs out of Kultura Record Store as a non-profit community station with an open door: the invitation on its own pages is to start hosting or volunteer, and the grid fills up accordingly. Hour-long shows run most afternoons and evenings on Moscow time, and the archive files each one by the city it came from — Moscow most weeks, St Petersburg often, Minsk when someone there has something to play. Listeners keep it going through a monthly subscription and the merch table rather than advertising.
What gets played is genuinely unsettled. One stretch of the archive took in Лиза Александрова's experimental ambient, an IDM hour from mилk, underground rap on Special Herbs with Макс Луч, breakbeat from psytelligence, and a folk-electronic session recorded in St Petersburg. Shows carry names like Dawn Prophylaxis, Washing Machine, UK Dealer and Прожиточный минимал, each with its own host.
Whoever asks, gets an hour.
