House, techno and hip hop out of Brooklyn's club scene.
Half Moon started in Brooklyn as more than a station: an independent music and media company that runs radio alongside events, editorial and workshops, now working out of New York and Los Angeles. The radio side has built past sixteen hundred shows, handed to residents who each take their own lane, and it spills off air regularly — a residency at the Ace Hotel, a live Dazed archive session, its own Anti Social Gala. The remit is emerging culture, wherever in the world it happens to be surfacing.
House and techno carry the most hours, with hip hop, R&B and soul close behind, and the edges run to jersey club, footwork and juke, drum and bass, afrobeats and baile funk. Kweku's Beats Without Borders, Favorite Mutuals FM, Heavy Waste, Hurt, Ascetic Aesthetic and Angel's Lament are among the residents' regular slots, most of them pre-recorded mixes set into the schedule.
Whatever the block is playing.
