Darkwave and synth-pop drifting into ambient and IDM.
Sammy's has been streaming out of Queens since at least early 2023, an independent, ASCAP-licensed station that keeps the music going without ads or talk. Much of the care goes into what surrounds the stream. The site carries homemade visualizers, a datamosh one among them, and a companion YouTube channel sets tracks to old experimental films, from a 1962 cut-out animation to quiet landscape cinema of the eighties. Every track that plays links to where you can buy it, a nudge to pay the artists directly.
The station pitches itself as a bridge between pop structures and the experimental. In practice the rotation is wide, hundreds of artists in a single week, moving between darkwave and synth-pop on one side and ambient and IDM on the other. Stark EBM and minimal electronics sit next to glitchy experimental pieces, with the odd gentle indie songwriter slipping through.
Cold synths, warm intentions.
