Hooold...
Dusting off the needle…
Czech hard rock from garage bands to arena legends.
On air since 28 February 2015, Good Water was set up against the argument that mainstream radio had given up on guitar bands in favour of industrially produced pop. It is not run for profit, it broadcasts worldwide under a Canadian licence through TorontoCast, and its stated audience is as much Czechs living abroad as anyone at home. The brief has held since: put semi-professional and amateur bands on air, and show that ordinary musicians play well enough to be worth hearing.
Czech and Slovak guitar bands carry the rotation, regional hard rock and melodic metal outfits from towns like Plzeň and Olomouc, with the British heavy-metal and hard-rock classics for company. Listeners send in their own live concert recordings and get them aired, and the monthly Z české kotliny works back through the prehistory of Czech rock and out again to who is playing now.
Pub rock for the diaspora.
