Hooold...
Dusting off the needle…
Indie, new wave and soul, chosen with a magazine's ear.
It began on paper. Music Minded came out as a Dutch music magazine — a zero issue in November 1996 under the name Music Monthly, then a free A3 full-colour title stocked in record shops across the Netherlands and Flanders from December 1997 — started by Peter Koks, Erwin Kroon and Ruben Eg with a crowd of obsessives who wanted good records talked about widely rather than filtered through the industry. It ran to 59 editions and 50,000 copies before the CD trade thinned it out, and after the last issue in 2005 it moved online for good.
What it became is a radio magazine: indie, rock, soul, folk and americana around the clock, with de Mijlplaat pulling one record into the spotlight and headlines on the hour. The schedule is all named shows — The Morning Glory, The Big Music at Lunchtime, Transmission, Runnin' Down A Dream on soul, country and blues overnight — plus Concerto Radio, made with the Amsterdam record shop.
Thirty years of not shutting up.
