Breakfast jazz, afternoon balearic, late-night library.
Radio Folia runs out of Barcelona as one unbroken day rather than a set of programmes, and that is the design rather than a shortfall: the Folia Sounds crew behind it shapes the hours the way a room fills and empties. Mornings are ambient and jazz, midday opens out into world music, the afternoon settles into balearic warmth, the early evening turns to italo and synth wave, and everything past midnight drifts back to ambient and the edges beyond it. Nobody announces any of it.
A late-evening hour can run Memphis soul into New York boogaloo, then private-press folk, sixties rock, bossa nova, a French film theme, jazz accordion and jazz guitar, and a cut from a British library-music catalogue. Vintage, largely acoustic, with no voice anywhere between the records, and a long way from the italo the clock promises for the early evening.
Warm all the way down.
