Mooment...
Die Nadel wird entstaubt…
House to hip-hop, soul and funk, dug up nightly.
The name goes back to a monthly night in the basement of Font Bar in Manchester's Northern Quarter, started in 2002 and built on putting live acts and DJs on the same bill. It moved up the road to Simple on Tib Street and held a Friday residency there for six years before winding down. What came back years later is a round-the-clock station run out of Stockport, with the old booking policy turned into a schedule and a roster that now reaches a long way past Manchester.
Around fifty selectors feed it, most working the same seam: house and disco first, then soul, funk, jazz, garage and boogie, with 4 Colours, Look Busy Collective, Mark Soul Buggin and Semi-Detached Disco among the names taking Friday to Sunday. The rest of the week runs on vault mixes and daytime playlists, and the crew still promotes nights at Eastern Bloc and over in Liverpool.
A 2002 club night that came back.
