Die Nadel wird entstaubt…
The world's first all-electronic station, back on air.
Evosonic went out from Cologne on 1 May 1997, on cable and satellite across Germany, as the first station anywhere given over entirely to electronic dance music. It refused the format-radio playbook and handed the hours to its music editors and DJs. The cable carriage went in June 1998, the station moved to Munich, talks to get back on the network failed, and it closed for good on 1 October 1999 — three months before Chris Maico Schmidt collected a German Dance Award for best medium.
Schmidt bought the name and trademarks back in 2010 and had the archive online by 2013. Some fifty hosts now fill a round-the-clock stream: Randy Seidman's Open House pulls guest mixes from Nora En Pure and Eelke Kleijn, Henry Madanian's Pantha Rhei takes the first Sunday of the month, and Chris Liebing is on the roster. In 2026 it broadcast eight hours from Rave The Planet.
Died in '99, refused to stay down.
