Ad-free student radio from Bergen, news to new music.
It has been going since 1982, which makes it the oldest local radio in the city, and it runs out of the Studentsenteret on Parkveien on money from Velferdstinget Vest, the student welfare body, rather than from anyone buying airtime. Around two hundred volunteers staff six desks between them, covering current affairs, culture, humour, sport and music, and the output runs around the clock on 107.8 FM, on DAB and online — which is a great many hours for a building full of students to keep filled.
Trigger Bergen presents the station playlist and puts its range at punk and pop through to hiphop and house. Crossfade gives a long weekly slot to hip-hop, R&B and soul. Klubb Karma is an actual club night reincarnated as radio, with Brute Lee presiding over it as he did at the club, and Plutopop gives away concert tickets to listeners in between the new music it plays.
Knausgård did his time here too.
