Cacoteo RadioCacoteo Radio

Cacoteo was started in 2007 by DjTito, a reggaeton DJ and producer from Loíza formerly of Wu Tang Latino, with his friend Lemy in Tampa, out of an argument about what the crossover had cost. The 2006 breakout pulled the industry in, and the industry did not carry the originators with it — Wiso G, Lisa M, Ranking Stone, Playero, Don Chezina and Trébol Clan went unplayed while a handful got picked. It has been volunteer-run and listener-funded ever since, on the position that the record is worth keeping.

The rotation puts those names back in circulation and keeps the door open at the other end: Daddy Yankee, Ivy Queen, Tempo, Eddie Dee and Nico Canada share the hour with D.OZi, Eladio Carrión, Rauw Alejandro and whoever came through the submissions inbox that week. The station's name is Puerto Rican slang out of the genre's first years, and it is meant literally.
