The Other Side: experimentation in form and sound.
Onassis Stegi's station runs three channels out of a studio the Athens foundation built, under the artistic direction of the Greek electronic musicians Voltnoi and Quetempo, and has more than eight thousand shows in its archive. This is the channel where the rules are suspended: the other two keep to shapes — resident hours on the first, a single genre on the second — while the third is given over to whatever will not fit either of them, at whatever length it happens to need.
Blocks are long by design: Focus holds the whole of the day, from breakfast to dinner, and then the Experimental strand takes it on through the evening. At that length a piece can be played whole rather than trimmed to fit a slot, which is rather the point. Drone, noise and field recording sit here beside sound art from the foundation's own commissions.
