Carinthia's bilingual free radio: jazz, blues, Balkan pop.
The association behind it carries two names — Arbeitsgemeinschaft offenes Radio and Avtonomno gibanje odprtega radia — and so does nearly everything else. On air since 26 October 1998, it broadcasts from Klagenfurt, or Celovec, across twelve transmitter sites whose names come in pairs: Dobrač and Dobratsch, Železna Kapla and Bad Eisenkappel, Slovenji Plajberk and Windisch Bleiberg, and on down into South Styria at Radgona, or Bad Radkersburg. Everyone who goes on air signs a Sendevereinbarung and is named in the licence.
Echoes from the South carries Carinthian jazz, AGORA got the Blues does what it says, and the Musiknacht runs six hours without interruption. Funky Monday belongs to DJ Franklin James, For Those About To Rock to the metal side, Draussen.Drinnen to electronics. 100 žensk works through Slovene women writers one at a time, and the evening fairy tales go out in Hungarian.
Two tongues, one frequency.
