De naald wordt afgestoft…
Pop, rock, soul, and blues, sans pub and sans modération.
Abie Nathan anchored a secondhand freighter three miles off Tel Aviv in 1973 and broadcast pop records and peace appeals out of international waters for twenty years; a French presenter working as Dom Donk Bernie took the overnight hours there in 1976 and 1977. The ship was scuttled in 1993, and he spent the decades after it on air in France, Italy and Switzerland before starting RadioBars in November 2023 as its descendant — the same repertoire, run from dry land and carrying no advertising.
The playlist runs from the mid-sixties to current releases and treats everything in between as one continuous argument, classics next to new records, nothing cut to fit a clock. Between songs come obituaries and rock-history notes — the death of a heavy-metal founder got its own farewell — from a presenter who describes the result as the sound without the blah, but not without a voice.
The Peace Ship never docked.
