Chart pop and indie pop, with Dutch voices in the mix.
Pinguin Pop is the stream Pinguin Radio set up for a younger audience than its indie main channel, and like each of the foundation's sister streams it is looked after by its own genre specialist. It was already running in June 2017, when a crash took out most of Pinguin's technology and Pop briefly stood in for the main station, playing its music from a pared-down playlist until the mothership was back at full strength a few days later. The non-profit behind it runs without ad breaks and pays its way through donations and sponsorship.
Current chart pop and R&B sit right next to indie pop, synth-pop and British guitar bands, so a big streaming hit can lead straight into a young indie group. Dutch singer-songwriters and bands get plenty of airtime, with the odd Belgian among them, and the occasional eighties single drops in to remind the younger crowd where some of this came from in the first place.
Charts, minus the cynicism.
