De naald wordt afgestoft…
Soca, dancehall, and reggae mixed by diaspora DJs.
Cleon Lord — the DJ, promoter and producer who works as D'Mighty Hitman — put Frontline on air on 1 February 2006 as a small side project, then spent twenty years turning it into a schedule staffed by Caribbean DJs filing in from Guyana, Trinidad, St. Thomas, London and New York. Toronto's mayor recognized the station for fundraising for sick children, and the twentieth anniversary ran as a six-week block party series. Lord has since handed the daily running to MistaKuskie, one of the longest-serving selectors on the grid.
Soca leads — Mical Teja, Patrice Roberts, Adrian Dutchin, Zoelah — with dancehall and reggae close behind it in Collie Buddz, Richie Spice and Ginjah, and house surfacing whenever a presenter feels like it. Weeknights belong to named shows: The Drivetime with Selector Dexter, I-Move with DJ Ree, True MixShow with DJ Primetime. Sunday afternoons turn to the classics, with calypso and kaiso on Hitman's Sunday School.
Carnival hours, kept year-round.
